Our Services
Microchipping
From April 2016 it becomes law for all dogs to be microchipped and will be compulsory for all dogs over the age of 8 weeks. Dogs will need to be chipped and registered with their owners/keepers contact details and all owners/keepers, including breeders, must keep these details up to date. Anyone breeding dogs will be responsible for chipping the puppies before they sell them to their new owners/keepers. Dogs found without a chip will see their owners/keepers face a £500 fine and a criminal prosecution.
The microchip is injected into the skin between the animals shoulder blades. The chipping process takes only a few minutes to complete and can be carried out in the comfort of your home, at a time to suit you.
The PeddyMark ISO microchip is 12mm x 2mm. The PeddyMark mini chip is 8mm x 1.4mm and suitable for animals under 15kg adult body weight. The chip is passive and does not contain a power source therefore will effectively last for ever. The PeddyMark microchip is activated by the scanner and transmits a globally unique identification number to a scanner/reader where it appears on the LCD display. The technology is standardised and conforms to ISO standard 11784/11785 and it can be used for virtually any pet.
Each chip has its own unique ID number. This is logged with Petlog, the Kennel Club database.
Once your pet and your details are registered, you will receive a registration certificate. Please keep this safe and remember to keep it up to date, so that you can easily be contacted, if your pet goes missing.
The police, RSPCA, dog homes, dog wardens, local authorities and vets can scan the chip. The database, which operates 24 hours per day, will be contacted and the ID number will confirm your address and then you and your pet will be reunited
Pregnancy Ultrasound Scanning
Ultrasound Scanning is a non-invasive safe procedure. The Scans can be performed either at our premises (Aberdulais), or if you wish to avoid unnecessary stressful journeys, we also offer a mobile scanning, where scans can be done in the comfort of your own home.
Pregnancy Scanning 8am – 8pm
Scanning your bitch can be beneficial for many reasons,
Distinguish between a pregnancy and a phantom.
-
Be able to plan ahead sooner.
-
Adjust her food accordingly.
-
Informing potential customers sooner of your expected litter.
Scanning is non invasive and safe, there is no need to anaesthetise or sedate your bitch, it is always done in the standing position whatever breed, as lying on their side or back can cause them to be unsettled and is totally unnecessary. A water based gel is used on the tummy to help ensure a clear picture.
Pregnancy detection can be carried out 28 days from the last mating and at anytime thereafter. 28 days is the optimum time for estimating the amount of puppies due, as the pregnancy develops it is more difficult to predict numbers.
During the scan I can freeze the ultrasound picture on the screen and email you a photograph of the puppies for your interest.
We prefer appointments to be booked at least 24 hours in advance. However we will try to accommodate if appointments are needed at short notice.
